Hallie G. Sammartino is Deputy Director of Marketing and Communications at Boston College.
Since her appointment in 2000, Sammartino has overseen marketing and communications for the University and its academic and administrative units. This includes developing long-term and short-term marketing strategies, directing the continuing development and application of University-wide branding, including graphic and editorial standards for publications and the Web, and managing all aspects of Internet marketing, electronic communications, signage and environmental graphics. Sammartino also often leads in the planning and execution of major events for the Offices of the President and Provost.
Sammartino oversees the University’s Web presence and has lead the development and implementation of two full site redesigns for bc.edu, with the most recent in 2007. She was also a member of the Strategic Planning Initiatives Metrics Task Force, one of a dozen committees charged with the development of a 30-year Master Plan that will enhance academic programming and improve campus facilities.
Prior to coming to Boston College, Sammartino was Associate Director of Publications and Web Communications at Harvard Business School from 1997 to 2000, and Assistant Director, Development Communications at Harvard University from 1995 to 1997. Other previous experience includes communications and public relations positions at a number of academic and financial institutions, as well as several teaching positions in higher education.
Sammartino received her B.S. and M.B.A. from the University of Rhode Island (URI), and is currently a doctoral candidate in the Higher Education Administration Program at Boston College’s Lynch School of Education. She currently serves as a First Vice President on The Copley Society of Art’s board, of which she is also the chair of the Marketing and Special Events subcommittee. She is a member of the American Marketing Association, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, and the Public Relations Society of America.
