Paul Huegel, VP of Operations

In his role as Vice President of Research for STAT Resources, Inc., Paul G. Huegel is responsible for overseeing client-centric strategic market and human resources research. Paul has some 25 year's experience with an exceptional balance of research, strategic marketing and advertising management expertise.

Prior to STAT Resources, Paul was Vice President of Strategic Planning for BBL Communications, designing research and implementing resulting marketing and media strategies for technology and other clients.  Before BBL, Paul spent several years as Marketing Research Director for Cahners Business Information Group  (now Reed) where he was responsible for staff of managers and analysts serving a wide range of industrial and other markets. Earlier in his career, he held positions in the media industry as both Directors of Advertising and of Marketing for daily newspapers and their off-shoots.

Paul earned an MBA from Northeastern University and a BA in Economics from Boston College.

Responsibilities of the VP of Operations

As secretary, the VP of Operations prepares Board minutes, maintains chapter historical records and keeps current with the AMA activities.

  • Maintain chapter Constitution and Bylaws. Submit proposed amendments to AMA International Headquarters.
  • Maintain chapter files including: board and committee rosters, chapter history and chapter policy and procedures
  • Prepare and maintain Board meeting minutes.
  • Conduct election procedures including balloting (mail ballots by March 1).
  • Provide change of address information on officers to AMA International Headquarters (within ten days of change).
  • Prepare Chapter Excellence Awards entry, with help of all board committees.
  • Work with the chapter’s Association Management Company to ensure continuity in chapter administration.
  • Responsible for adherence to the provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws of IH as they relate to our activities including forwarding copies of the Annual Chapter Plan and Budget, Mid-Year and Year-End Reports, monthly financial reports, board minutes, and annual financial review and strategic plan to IH.
As treasurer, the VP of Operations manages the chapter finances by helping to develop an annual budget for the chapter and for committees and by supervising the receipt and disbursement of funds by the chapter’s association management company staff.
  • Ensures that the association management company staff receives and disburses all chapter funds, maintains chapter financial accounts, and cashes all checks promptly!
  • Serve on the Finance Committee and provide financial counsel to the President and the Board.
  • Ensures that the association management company staff secures signature cards and forms for changing signatures on all chapter accounts before July 1.
  • With chapter president and committee chairs, prepares the preliminary chapter budget and submits to the Board for approval and revisions. Send two copies of the completed budget to AMA International Headquarters by required date (August).
  • Monitors the disbursement of funds and compares income and expenses to the budget throughout the year.
  • The association management company staff will prepare monthly reports.
  • Presents the monthly financial report of income and expenses at Board meetings.
  • At year-end, review the Professional Chapter Year-end Financial Report Form prepared by the association management company staff. Make recommendations for following year’s budget.
General Responsibilities of all Board Members

The Board of Directors is the official governing body of the chapter and manages all business and property of the chapter. Most importantly, Board members should enjoy their service and build meaningful relationships with their peers and marketers across the country. Plus, attend events at no charge.
  • Promote the ideals and goals of AMA.
  • Do not reinvent the wheel but take advantage of resources provided by the AMA network.
  • Manage chapter affairs with the president and other officers.
  • Attend monthly board meetings, which are 2 hours in length each and held in Waltham and downtown Boston.
  • Serve on one or more committees, whose work is done between board meetings.
  • Help make chapter policy.
  • Advise the president and other officers.
  • Help plan and/or review the annual chapter budget and plan.
  • Coordinate with other officers, directors and committee chairs as needed.
  • Support membership drives and spread the word about events.
  • The general board has no required role in fundraising.
  • Members of the Board serve for at least one year.
  • Three consecutive absences may mean dismissal from board, at discretion of board.
