Myles Bristowe, President Elect
Myles, founder of VividContext , a Web site and online community design agency, has designed hundreds of corporate Web sites and Web strategies for leading brands in the health care, fitness and sports, financial services, technology, consumer products and manufacturing industries. Previously, Myles served as Creative Director at TreeFrog Productions, a Website design and development firm he co-founded in 1999. Some clients in Myles' interface design portfolio include: Akamai, Allmerica Financial, Curis, The Greater Boston Food Bank, Greg Norman, Intellicare, Kryptonite Lock Company, Lifeline Systems, Nike | Bauer, Pastene, Phase Forward, PHT Corp, Ralph Lauren Footwear, Reebok, Rockport, Simplex, Tyssen Elevator, Visiting Nurse Association of America, and WebDental.
Responsibilities of the President Elect
- Serve as Chairman of the Executive Committee.
- Assume the responsibilities of the president in his/her absence or incapacity to serve.
- Coordinate and direct the activities of committees on behalf of the president.
- Call for committee reports as needed.
- Attend the Chapter Leadership Summit
- Handle other assignments or special projects as directed by the president or by the Board.
- Begin planning for his/her term as president.
- Ensures continuity of chapter administration.
- Assists the president in chapter management.
- Automatically becomes president at the end of the year following his/her election as president-elect.
- The president-elect's year is used to learn about the overall operation of the chapter and to begin planning for the presidency.
The Board of Directors is the official governing body of the chapter and manages all business and property of the chapter. Most importantly, Board members should enjoy their service and build meaningful relationships with their peers and marketers across the country. Plus, attend events at no charge.
- Promote the ideals and goals of AMA.
- Do not reinvent the wheel but take advantage of resources provided by the AMA network.
- Manage chapter affairs with the president and other officers.
- Attend monthly board meetings, which are 2 hours in length each and held in Waltham and downtown Boston.
- Serve on one or more committees, whose work is done between board meetings.
- Help make chapter policy.
- Advise the president and other officers.
- Help plan and/or review the annual chapter budget and plan.
- Coordinate with other officers, directors and committee chairs as needed.
- Support membership drives and spread the word about events.
- The general board has no required role in fundraising.
- Members of the Board serve for at least one year.
- Three consecutive absences may mean dismissal from board, at discretion of board.
