Derek J. Archambault, Past President
Derek has been an active member of the American Marketing Association since college, when he created the Boston Chapter's first stand-alone web site. He has since served the Boston Chapter as Vice President of Online Communications, President-Elect, President, and Past-President/Advisor.
Derek is currently the Northeast Marketing Manager for Dean Foods, the largest dairy company in the United States. His previous consumer marketing experience includes positions with Garelick Farms and entrepreneurial venture MEDport/The Ocean Group, as well as a variety of freelance projects, including assisting local musicians and artists promote themselves. In addition, he has experience in business-to-business marketing through his role as Marketing Manager at Mech-Chem Associates and Donnelly & Duncan Advertising.
In addition to his continued involvement with the Boston Chapter of the AMA, he is also a member of the Rhode Island AMA Chapter, serves on the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk Committee, and is an active member of Boston Chapter of Fast Company magazine's Company of Friends.
He is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, where he was the first graduate of the school's Honors program, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Marketing and a concentration in Leadership Studies. He remains active in alumni affairs with Johnson & Wales University.
Derek also enjoys the opportunity to share experiences and ideas with college and high school students, having spoken in classes at Boston University, Boston College, Rhode Island School of Design, Stonehill College, Emerson College, Clark University, and Johnson & Wales.
When not doing all of the above, he enjoys fulfilling his duties as a Kansas City Barbecue Society-certified barbecue judge, cheering on his beloved New England sports teams, keeping up with the strange but fascinating world of pop culture, traveling, developing the next great business idea (which he thinks he just might have), writing in his blog, and listening to an almost unnaturally wide range of music.
John Cass, Past President
John joined the board in 2003 as VP of Volunteers & HR. He is served as President during the 2005-2006 chapter year.
Cass was lead author on ‘Corporate Blogging: Is It Worth The Hype?” a 70 page study and website on the value and benefits of corporate blogging. The study reveals how such companies as Microsoft, Macromedia and IBM are using blogging. John is an expert on the topic of corporate blogging and has spoken at conferences and colleges including; the Business Blog Summit in San Francisco, Boston University, Bentley College, Northeastern University and Babson College. John has been quoted in a number of national publications on the topic of blogging and corporate blogging including the Florida Sun-Sentinel, Chicago Tribune and L.A. Times. John is a Fellow of the Society for New Communications Research (SNCR).
John re-located to Boston from Seattle, Washington in 2003. He has held senior positions in marketing and PR for a number of companies including; 48hourprint.com, an online printing company, eCharge Corporation, a consumer security software company and Portent Interactive, an interactive agency. John moved to California from the United Kingdom in 1992, and has a B.A. from Leicester Polytechnic in the United Kingdom. John lives in Arlington with his wife Karin, and occasionally finds time to blog about AMA events on his personal business blog PR Communications.
Owen Jenkins, Past President
Owen led AMA Boston's strategic direction, major initiatives and overall program execution guided by the input of the Board and its membership. Prior to his appointment to president for the 2003/4 chapter year, Owen served as a board member responsible for customer acquisition programs, and in that capacity, he reached out to marketing professionals and actively promoted the considerable benefits that chapter membership offers.
Owen is Chief Executive of Kadence Business Research, a specialist business research company based in Framingham. He has senior level experience in both market research and advertising both in the US and Europe. In 1996, Owen moved to the area from the United Kingdom. He holds a bachelors degree in chemistry from UC Aberystwyth, Wales and holds a certificate in Communication, Advertising and Marketing from the CAM foundation in London.
