Here are four tips to identify and demonstrate your expertise.  

Be laser-focused and don’t try to boil the ocean: First, identify what you are good at and what you enjoy doing, i.e. digital marketing.  Stay focused on demonstrating your expertise in digital marketing alone versus every aspect of marketing.  In this very noisy, omnichannel world, you want hiring managers and recruiters to realize that you are indeed the digital marketing expert they want on their team, irrespective of which channel they discover you on – LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram.

Pick your primary communication platform: Witten, audio, video, or visual – what’s your comfort zone? Once you figure that out, you can begin creating original content – whether it’s a blog, podcast, or short videos.

Publish your content aggressively: Utilize free platforms such as LinkedIn, Medium, YouTube, depending on your content type.

Engage with influencers: It’s not enough to simply publish your content. You should also consider engaging in, commenting on, and providing value in digital marketing discussions. You want to be seen as an expert who is ready to answer questions and help people.  Some platforms to engage in are LinkedIn Groups, Quora, and Reddit.
